Young Rhinebeck fellowship offers students an inside look

The Young Rhinebeck (“YR”) Fellows program offers high school students insider experience working with a local non-profit and helping shape and lead programming, while developing connections to community professionals.

The fellows in YR help advance the organization’s mission of “preparing youth to interact with their local and global community with intelligence, cultural competence, ethics, compassion and generosity,” according to a YR news release.

The fellows are appointed for a full school year, unpaid, to provide hands-on work and support for YR programs, such as the Half Day/Whole World and Art Connect programs for middle school kids and the Life, Learning and Language and Culture programs for elementary school kids. They will also be involved, with a YR board member, in planning and executing at least one YR event.

Applicants must live in the Rhinebeck Central School District but may attend any school or be home schooled. Applicants should be a high school sophomore, junior or senior as of September 2013.

The deadline for applications, which include a one-page essay and two references, is Dec. 2. For more information, email
