Hyde Park man in serious condition after being hit by a car

A 64-year-old Hyde Park man was hit by a car Dec. 4 at about 7:44 am when he attempted to cross Violet Avenue near Brower Boulevard from the east side of the road, according to a Hyde Park Police report. The man was struck by a 1992 Ford Econoline van traveling north and the report said his injuries were considered serious but not life-threatening and included a head injury and a broken leg. Assisting at the scene were the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, Hyde Park Fire Department and Northern Dutchess Paramedics.
