Red Hook residents warned about string of burglaries

An apparent string of residential burglaries in Red Hook on Jan. 10 caused local police to issue a warning to residents to keep homes and vehicles locked.

On Jan. 11, the Red Hook police department issued a terse advisory that there had been “several residential burglaries in the Town of Red Hook” the previous day.

“We would like to advise all residents to please keep their homes and vehicles locked at all times when unattended. If you have alarms, please set them as well,” the advisory said.

The advisory added that the Red Hook Police and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office are “currently investigating all of these burglaries” and that formal notice would be issued “after all of the suspects involved are taken into custody.”

At press time, the police department was refusing further comment on the continuing investigation, even though local reports on Facebook indicated that burglaries might have taken place near College Park, Fraleigh Lane, Starbarrack Road and in Upper Red Hook.
