Daniel Helsin, second from left, of Hyde Park Boy Scout Troop 37 began the installation of the three Beatrix Farrand Garden gate doors on Aug. 28 as the grand finale of his Eagle Scout community service project. The garden gate restoration project was two years in the making and Daniel worked full-time the entire summer on crafting three massive wooden gate reproductions in the “Clear White Oak” of the original Beatrix Farrand Design. Along with the help of fellow troop members and friends, the installation of the garden gates will be completed by the end of the holiday weekend. Helping him are Tommy Helsin, left, and Lucus Carey, right, also of Troop 37.
With spring around the corner, village representatives are meeting to discuss outdoor dining options once again.
