The Red Hook Community Arts Network has planned two new shows for the summer, and is inviting local artists to join in.
“Gardens and Landscapes of the Hudson Valley” will be held in conjunction with the bicentennial committee’s garden tour and paint-out at Blythwood Gardens on June 10.
This is an open show of work of varied media that will run from June 15 to July 15. Artwork for this show should be inspired by Hudson Valley gardens and landscapes. Information on participating in the paint-out or entering the show is available by emailing redhookcan@gmail.com.
PHOTOgraphy, a juried exhibition of work encompassing all photographic processes from the traditional, alternative and digital, will open July 20 and run through Aug. 19.
It will be juried by Henry Horenstein, a photographer and teacher and author of over 30 books, including a series of photographic textbooks considered the seminal teaching tools for students of photography for the past 30 years. His work can be found in major museums, including the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History.
The exhibit is open to all photographers and entries are being accepted through June 17. A prospectus is available by emailing rhcanphoto@gmail.com.
The Red Hook Community Arts Network now resides at the Red Hook CAN / Artist’s Collective gallery at 7516 North Broadway, next to Village Pizza. Gallery hours are Fridays and Saturdays, 1-8pm; Sundays, 12-4pm, or by chance.
