Incumbent Rhinebeck Village Trustee Vanessa Bertozzi and newcomer Eleanor Pupko were swept into office on Tuesday for two-year terms that will begin April 1, defeating their lone Republican opponent Derrick Simon. According to a village announcement, Bertozzi received 397 votes, Pupko 385, and Simon received 83.

Rhinebeck has become a Democratic stronghold in recent years: the most competitive races in the village are typically the Democratic primaries.

Pupko challenged and defeated the recently appointed Trustee John Penney in the Democratic primary when his PR work for and donations to Republicans Marc Molinaro and Rob Rolison were exposed during the campaign.
