Some big news from the four corners in Red Hook. According to building owner Todd Baright, the Merritt Bookstore space will soon see a new tenant.
I caught Todd via text message when he was out of town and asked about the new exterior work and whether that was a herald of good news.
“Big news, the Bread and Bottle is coming to the historic corner of Red Hook,” he wrote. “A bakery by day, lunches on their fresh bread, then the whole scene morphs into a wine bar at night. Light bites, cheese plates, a tapas-type menu. Acoustic music with a selection of whites, reds and microbrewery beers.”
The new maroon-and-black paint job looks great. There’s no word on the timeline for their grand opening yet, but it sounds like a promising business for a location like that. And hopefully, it will improve the foot traffic for local businesses.
