Bard College has received a variance for increased signage along Route 9G to identify the newly constructed Alumni Center and Two Boots Pizza, located across the road from Bard’s main entrance.
The Red Hook Town Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) approved four signs totaling 51 square feet in area: two along the road are already set up on a temporary basis, the other two will be placed on the building’s façade.
The property also has a directional sign that points to the College’s main entrance. The ZBA did not include this sign in its calculation, however, because directional signs are considered by the planning board.
Town code states that no more than 12 square feet of signage are allowed in the district. But ZBA member Tim Ross said he thought the speed of traffic along that section of 9G warranted additional signs for increased visibility.
