Tivoli gets $100K sidewalk grant

The village of Tivoli is determining how best to allocate a $100,000 grant that was received from Dutchess County for work on the sidewalks. Mayor Bryan Cranna said the trustees will meet with the village engineer before making final decisions on where the monies will be spent.

He said he expected the grant would allow for the creation of new sidewalks and the refurbishment of many older ones, but it was probably not going to be enough to complete the village’s wish list.

Tivoli recently received another grant that would cover the cost of designing a new sidewalk extending to the end of Broadway at Route 9G, with lighting and benches. While there is no money yet allocated for construction, Cranna said the design is an important first step in resolving what he termed a dangerous situation for pedestrians heading up Broadway’s hill.
