Bard College representatives returned to the planning board on July 16 to discuss the final tweaks to a plan to construct a baseball field adjacent to the existing soccer field on campus.
The artificial turf sports facility will seat 168 in the bleachers and was recently modified to avoid areas found to be archeologically significant. Under the turf will be an extensive drainage system including an 8″ layer of stone.
Bard College has agreed with the state to an extensive series of tests including radio-carbon dating some of the archeological found near the site. A public hearing was held in May on the project, and after review, the planning board approved the updated plan unanimously.
