Use variance granted for Gendron restaurant

Daniel Gendron’s application for a use variance to convert his catering business and home into a reservation-only 10-seat restaurant was approved on July 18 by the Rhinebeck Zoning Board of Appeals. In the past, Gendron had received a use variance to open his catering business at his residence at 3767 Route 9G, just north of IXL.

Gendron’s ZBA application is linked to his planning board application for the new restaurant which is currently in front of the town’s planning board.

The property is within the business district and in close proximity to the agricultural district. A report from the planning board indicated that, from its perspective, “the requested variances raise no apparent planning or environmental issues.”

After further discussion, the ZBA decided unanimously to grant the variance, with the requirement that construction begin within one year.
