Rhinebeck Rescue repeats as EMS Agency of the Year

The Dutchess County Emergency Medical Services Council has honored the Rhinebeck Rescue as the EMS Agency of the Year for the second consecutive year.

According to Jennifer Manzi, president of the Council, the squad faced numerous challenges in 2011, including having their failing ambulance catch fire. But with “tremendous fundraising, some creative thinking, a loaner ambulance and a lot of determination, [they] responded to 565 calls in 2011, only turning over 20 calls for the entire year,” she said.

‚ÄúThis award is a testament to the extremely hard work and dedication put forth by the members of the Rhinebeck Rescue Squad,” said Village of Rhinebeck Mayor Jim Reardon. “The training requirements, the weekly meetings and then being willing to respond 24/7, 365 days a year, epitomizes the true meaning of what volunteerism is all about.”
