Police station construction bids awarded

The Village of Rhinebeck has received qualifying bids totaling more than $750,000 for the construction of the new police station in the empty lot behind the firehouse.

“This project came in under our projected budget by $35,550, so we’re very pleased with the way it came in,” said Mayor James Reardon.

At its Aug. 14 meeting, the village board accepted bids from Myer Construction, Ackerman Plumbing, Dutchess Mechanical and Aries Electronics for a total of $759,450.

Contracts will be drawn up and executed and, according to Deputy Mayor Wayne Rifenburgh, construction is expected to begin in the fall with completion by spring.
