Town of Red Hook Planning Board – August 20, 2012

Subdivision sketch presented for 43 W. Willets Dr.
Engineer Dan Wheeler approached the planning board at the Aug. 20 meeting to discuss a plan to subdivide a 7-acre property at 43 W. Willets Dr., owned by Glade and Robin Keaney, to create an additional building lot. The plan as presented showed a thin corridor for access to the rear lot in a configuration known as a flag lot.

A sketch plan review is an informal process through which an applicant gets feedback from the planning board on a project before taking more formal, and expensive, steps toward approval.

Manning/Norton land swap proposed at 66 Hapeman Hill Rd.
Attorney Angela Lore presented the details of a proposal to swap land between two adjoining parcels on Hapeman Hill Road. The well and the driveway for # 66, owned by Lorraine Manning, were built just over the property line many years ago. The proposed swap would trade the land with the well and driveway for other land of equal size — 4,344 square feet – -owned by neighbor Mildred Norton to correct the boundaries, which would allow the property to be sold.

After reviewing the site plan, the planning board recommended some minor changes and additions to the map. The applicant will return at a later meeting.

Wenner tree removal discussions postponed again
The public hearing for Jann Wenner’s special permit application for tree removals at 245 Woods Rd north of Tivoli was continued to the Monday, Sept. 17 Red Hook planning board meeting at 7:30pm at Red Hook Town Hall. The request is complicated by the ongoing discussions about unauthorized tree cutting along the Hudson on the adjacent Teviot estate, which also owned by Wenner.
