Rhinebeck firefighter gets department’s scholarship award

Rhinebeck firefighter Devon Dorrer accepts the Ruth and Arnold Demarest Memorial Scholarship from Fire Department Treasurer John Imperato while Chief Rick Dorrer and President Bill Stroka look on at the fire department’s annual picnic on Sept. 15. The four-year, $500-a-semester scholarship was established eight years ago and is presented annually to an active firefighter in the department who maintains a grade average of 80 or better while in high school and who intends to attend college. Dorrer is currently enrolled at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy.
