MEN’S SOCCER: The Bard College men’s soccer team snapped a 10-game losing streak with a 4-1 victory over Sarah Lawrence College in a non-league game Oct. 17. Freshman Troy Robertson (Harvey, La.) scored three times, and senior Ammar Al-Rubaiay (Baghdad, Iraq) had a pair of assists.

The Raptors (3-12-2) will play their final game of the 2012 season on Sat., Oct. 27, against Vassar College in a Liberty League game. It will be Senior Day for Chet Darrow (New York, N.Y.), Kurt Schmidlein (Mont Vernon, N.H.), Ammar Al-Rubaiay (Baghdad, Iraq) and Raed Al Abbasee (Baghdad, Iraq).

WOMEN’S SOCCER: The Raptors are 4-11-1 heading into Senior Day, when Bard will host Utica College in a non-league game. Seniors Lena James (Atlanta, Ga.), Abby de Uriarte (Sicklerville, N.J.) and Perry Scheetz (Lancaster, Pa.) will be honored.

MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY: The Raptors placed 13th out of 21 teams at the Western New England College Invitational Oct. 13. Red Hook High School graduate Jonathan Von Reusner was part of the effort, crossing the line third for Bard and 82nd overall. The Liberty League Championships, hosted by Clarkson University, are coming up Oct. 27.

WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY: The Raptors placed 15th out of 23 teams at the Western New England College Invitational Oct. 13. Red Hook High School graduate Lorna Brundrett was second for Bard and 78th overall. Next up are the Liberty League Championships, Oct. 27, hosted by Clarkson University.

MEN’S & WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Practices started for both teams on Oct. 15, as they prepare for play in the tough Liberty League. The women’s home opener is on Nov. 20 where they’ll face Yeshiva University, at 8pm. The men’s home opener, against Drew University, is on Dec. 2 at 2pm. Red Hook High School graduate Frank Stortini is a senior co-captain for the men’s team.
