A 21-year-old Germantown youth was killed in a New Year’s Eve car crash on Route 9 in Livingston, and the 19-year-old driver of the car was allegedly drunk, the state police reported.
According to a state police investigation, a southbound 2003 Toyota driven by , 19, of Germantown, exited the roadway and struck a utility pole at 1:30am on Dec. 31.
Max Kelly, 21, of Germantown, who was in the rear seat, was extricated from the vehicle by Livingston Fire Department and treated by Northern Dutchess Paramedics prior to being transported to Albany Medical Center in critical condition. He later died.
was charged with DWI and vehicular assault in the second degree, a class E felony. He was arraigned in the Town of Greenport and released on his own recognizance.
Further charges were pending. Calls to the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office were not returned by press time.
