Bard men drop three out of four Liberty League basketball games

Junior Evan Carberry (Metuchen, N.J.) led Vassar with 12 points, while junior John Donnelly (Williston, Vt.) added seven points and nine rebounds. Snyder led all rebounders with 10 and added six points. And Burnette had 17 points and eight rebounds for the Raptors.

By the third game, Bard was badly outscored.

An 18-0 run over an eight-minute span broke open a close game in the first half and led the Clarkson University men’s basketball team to a 75-45 romp over Bard on Jan. 11.

Bard trailed, 15-10, with about 12 minutes to go in the first half, but Clarkson outscored Bard 30-7 to take a 45-17 lead at halftime. The Golden Knights (9-3, 1-2 Liberty League) shot 76 percent from the floor in the first half and 68 percent for the game.

Sophomore Chris McAllister (Olathe, Kan.) led four Clarkson players in double figures with 17 points. Stortini led Bard with 10 points. On Jan. 12, Bard got beaten back again by torrid shooting from the St. Lawrence University team, who made 11-of-21 shots from beyond the three-point arc and pulled away to a 75-60 victory.

Bard (4-8, 1-4 Liberty League) got as close as six early in the second half, but the Saints’ shooting held the Raptors at bay the rest of the way. St. Lawrence (4-8, 2-1 Liberty League) made 7-of-11 three-pointers in the second half to squelch any Bard rallies and pulled away late.

St. Lawrence got 19 points from Brady Condlin (Massena, N.Y,) and 18 from Kyle Miller (Central Square, N.Y.).

Bard’s Burnette finished with 20 points. Stortini added nine points and eight rebounds.
