Dutchess Dems endorse Rubenstein for Family Court judge

Dutchess County Democrats have unanimously endorsed Lisa E. Rubenstein’s campaign for Dutchess County Family Court Judge in the November elections.

“Ms. Rubenstein has the qualifications, experience and dedication to be a wonderful Family Court Judge,” announced Elisa Sumner, chair of the Dutchess County Democrats, said in a news release.

Rubenstein, an attorney for more than 25 years, is now a Court Attorney Referee in Dutchess County Supreme Court who presides over divorce cases and foreclosure mediation conferences. She previously served as Principal Court Attorney to the Senior Family Court Judge Valentino T. Sammarco, whose 10-year term ends this year.

“I have experience on both sides of the bench,” Rubenstein said in the news release. “For more than 10 years, I represented children, parents and grandparents in Family Court and for eight years I was Judge Sammarco’s chief legal assistant. I have always used this unique perspective to find the best possible solutions that protect children and families.”

In addition to her work in the courts, Rubenstein has served on several committees that address policy considerations on domestic violence in the county. She has also been involved in many community organizations, including Girl Scouts, Little League and as a founding Board member for Stringendo, a non-profit orchestra school.
