It’s closer to the end of spring sports than the beginning, so it’s high time to look at Red Hook and Rhinebeck’s track results so far in 2013.
In a triangular with Webutuck and Saugerties hosted at home on April 27, the Red Hook Raiders beat Webutuck, 95-41, but lost to Saugerties, 74-67. Declan Dwyer-McNulty placed first in 1600m and 3200m, Jed Sarabia won the discus, Shane Crittenden won the pole vault, and Red Hook’s relay team won both the 1600m and 3200m relays. The girls also lost to Saugerties, 69-66, but beat Webutuck, 94-30. Grace Weisbecker placed first in the pole vault and 100m.
The Red Hook boys lost to Roosevelt on April 30, 96-45; Red Hook’s Alex Gilbert won the 400m, Declan Dwyer-McNulty won the 3200m, and Shane Crittenden won the pole vault. The girls, however, whipped the Presidents in the same meet, 91-49. Red placed first in everything but the 1500m, the 3000m, the 400m relay, the high jump and the discus.
At the Steinhoff Cup competition May 3, hosted by Ellenville and competed in by Red Hook, Rhinebeck, Tri-Valley, Ellenville, and Liberty, Red Hook’s Kaitlin McGovern placed first in the triple jump, Grace Weisbecker placed first in the 100m and pole vault, and Red Hook track won both the 800m relay and the 3200m relay. On the boys side of things, Red Hook’s Nick LaBarbarra won the 100m. Rhinebeck boys cleaned house, winning every relay. The Hawks’ Dante Penepent won the 800m, Zach Karras won the 1600m, and Andy Chardavoine won the shot put.
Both Rhinebeck track teams stomped Millbrook track on May 1, the boys winning 95-33 and the girls winning 83-31. The Hawks dropped both halves of the meet against Dover on April 22. The boys lost a squeaker, 67-64; Dante Penepent won the 1600m, Zach Karras won the 3200m, and Alex Slayton won the 400m. The girls lost 86-54; Elizabeth Clarke won the 400m hurdles, Barr Lavi-Romer won the 100m hurdles, Brianna Santo won the 400m, Alexa Schwartz won the 800m, and Catherine Clarke won the 1500m.
Rhinebeck’s boys are 3-1 on the season and the girls are 2-2. According to head coach Chris Sneed, the 100m relay team of Connor Bolton, Chris Cassano, Jake Euell, and Andy Chardavoine have twice broken the school record this season, which now sits at 46.0.
Red Hook girls are 2-1 and Red Hook boys are 1-2 in league.
