As part of earning their bronze award, the highest award a Junior scout can earn, the girls from Rhinebeck troop #10479 combined their love of animals and skits. Along the way, they learned how the Dutchess County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DCSPCA) was formed, heard from speakers who have volunteered at the shelter, organized a skit night where other scout troops performed and brought a donation and, with the help of Chancellor Livingston Elementary school physical education teachers Liz Irwin and Bill Hicks, ran a collection drive in the school and collected about 30 recycle containers of food, bedding and cleaning supplies for delivery to DCSPCA. Troop leaders are Diane Lyons and Colleen Soden.
