Winnakee Land Trust will hold its annual meeting Wed., May 29 from 5pm to 7pm at the tented pavilion at Gigi Market & Café, 227 Pitcher Lane, Red Hook.
The event is free and open to the public. The venue was donated by Laura Pensiero, founder and owner behind Gigi Hudson Valley. Pensiero will kick off the evening with a talk on the challenges and pleasures of sourcing food locally and the important connection between health and wellness and the wholesomeness of our food. A graduate of the French Culinary Institute, Pensiero is a registered dietician, author, and longtime proponent of health education.
At the meeting, Winnakee will honor Burger Hill Stewards’ Coordinator Valerie Kilmer with the Mary S. Meyer Fellowship Award for Outstanding Voluntarism. Kilmer, a life-long resident of Rhinebeck, has served as the Stewards Coordinator for Drayton Grant Park at Burger Hill for many years, working year-round to organize more than 70 volunteers who open and close the park each day.
New board members will be elected and terms renewed for existing board members. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, e-mail Jen Mac Kay at info@winnakeeeland.org or call 845-876-4213.
