With July 11 as the petition-filing deadline for county legislature candidates, the three local races have taken shape.
In Rhinebeck, five-term incumbent Joel Tyner (D-Clinton) will face Deborah Mimoso (R-Rhinebeck) in his bid for re-election in a district WHAT # that covers the towns of Rhinebeck and Clinton. Tyner will likely have the Democratic and Working Families line, while Mimoso will have the Republican and Conservative lines.
In Red Hook’s legislative district, WHAT #, the race will be a rematch of 2011 with incumbent Benjamin Traudt, a Republican, facing former town board member Micki Strawinski, a Democrat. Strawinski will likely appear on the Democratic and Working Families lines, while Traudt will likely appear on the Republican, Conservative and Independence party lines.
In District 19, which encompasses the towns of Milan, Pine Plains, North East and Stanford, incumbent Democrat Debra Blalock will be opposed by former Pine Plains Supervisor Gregg Pulver. Pulver will likely appear on the Republican and Conservative party lines, while Blalock will likely have the Democratic, Working Families and Independence party lines.
It is still possible, but unlikely, that some petitions may be challenged before the November elections.
