Close scores mark men’s basketball playoffs

As high school sports begin to pick up, the best show in town, Red Hook Men’s Basketball, winds to a close — and here are the first-round playoff scores to prove it.

In the A Division, Matt Parr Alumni outpaced Millbrook, 65-60, in a game led in scoring by Matt Parr’s Mike Rogers with 22. Slackers slipped by Dutchess Beer, 50-48, in a game led in scoring by Dutchess’ Justin Cooper with 19. Roosevelt roasted Ryan’s Renegades, 69-37, in a game led in scoring by Roosevelt’s George Dallas with 25.

In the B Division play-in game, Kingston Nissan got around Willie’s Warriors, 51-43. The Warriors’ Pete Zuck led the game in scoring with 18. Nissan couldn’t keep the magic going, though, and fell to Flynn Electric, 60-40, in a game led in scoring by Flynn’s Brandon Tator. Dutchess Beer’s B Division team beat Johnny O’s, 56-46, in a game led in scoring by Dutchess’ Justin Cooper with 21. Ryan McCann Insurance beat Derek and the Dominoes, 42-28, in a game led in scoring by McCann’s Jesse Smith with 18. Minnow Motors edged out Disco Ninjas, 47-43. Matt Minnow of Minnow Motors and Corey van Wagner of Disco Ninjas split the scoring lead, both putting up 16.

In Division C, Colonial Subaru scooped Foam and Car Wash, 39-31, in a game led in scoring by Foam’s Ryan Jantzen with 15. BFAS beat Christina’s Pizza, 50-35, in a game led in scoring by Tim McCann of BFAS with 18. Landworks beat Kingston Nissan, 52-41, in a game led in scoring by Nissan’s Brian Messmer with 22. Raiders got past Village Pizza, 58-51, in a game led in scoring by both Tim Terry and John Allessi of Raiders, who each had 20. DCSO/Corrections beat Spectrum Graphics, 38-23, in a game led in scoring by Spectrum’s Demetrios Holden with 16.
