Entries sought for juried photography exhibit in Red Hook

A month-long juried exhibit of photography will be held in the Red Hook CAN / Artist’s Collective gallery at 7516 N. Broadway in October.

The show, to run Oct. 12 to Nov. 10, will be judged by Jeff Jacobson, an American photographer born in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1946 to a family of Jewish refugees. A former lawyer for the American Civil Liberties Union, Jacobson began his photography career after studying under Charles Harbutt. A member of Magnum Photos from 1978 to 1981, he subsequently was a partner of Archive Pictures and later affiliated himself with Redux Pictures.

Deadline for entries is Sept. 4 at midnight. Acceptance notifications will start Sept. 18. Drop-off of accepted artwork will be Oct. 7 and 8.

According to RHCAN guidelines, any work created from an original photographic-based process is welcome, including film, digital, digitally manipulated, solarprints, archaic processes and photo collages/mixed media. Work that is totally digitally created with no photographic base will not be accepted.

Space restrictions mean framed work cannot exceed 30”x40.”
