After close to three months of blacktop showdowns at the Red Hook Rec Park, the Red Hook men’s basketball league has crowned their three champions.
In the A Division semifinals, Slackers beat Matt Parr Alumni 42-39, in a game led in scoring by Corey Van Wagner of Slackers, and Matt Parr Varsity gobbled up Roosevelt, 79-59, in a game led in scoring by Red Hook High great and former Fairfield player Greg Nero with 32 for Varsity.
In the championship, Varsity clipped Slackers, 73-52. Kevin Cayea and Van Wagner split the scoring lead with 23.
The B Division came down to matches between Dutchess Beer and Ryan McCann Insurance, and Flynn Electric and Minnow Motors. Dutchess Beer beat McCann, 43-32, in a game led in scoring by Tyler O’Lay with 14, for Dutchess. Flynn beat Minnow, 65-55, in a game led in scoring by Paddy Parr with 21.
In the championship round, Dutchess beat Flynn, 67-50, in a game led in scoring by Beer’s Drew Rundle with 21.
And in C Division semifinals action, BFAS beat Raiders, 36-32, in a game led in scoring by Raiders’ Tucker Griffin with 18, and Landworks beat DCSO/Corrections, 30-26, in a game led in scoring by both Derek Pitcher of Landworks and Tyrell Bennerman of DCSO with 8.
In the finals, BFAS finished Landworks, 52-35, in a game led in scoring by BFAS’ Tim McCann.
