They may be young but these kids know how to run — and run they did in the mini-dash during the Mad Dash Race in Rhinebeck on Labor Day. More than 550 runners, including 75 kids, turned out for the annual charity race, sponsored by the Church of the Messiah. Race organizers said they raised about $14,000, which will be distributed to local charities. The fastest time for the 5K run among the men was Mike Chow, 34, of Wappingers Falls, at 16:20; for women, Erica Ruge, 41, of Rhinebeck with 20:07. For the 10K, Jeff Canston, 45, of Hopewell Junction, was men’s fastest, at 37:18; and Melissa Guckian, 32, of Poughkeepsie, took the women’s lead, with 37:49. In the 5K walk, Pete Wells, 65, of Ulster Park, took the lead with 35:27.
