Hardscrabble Day’s on the horizon

Red Hook will again put on its best face for its annual festive Hardscrabble Day Sept. 21.

The fun and carefree community atmosphere kicks off around 10am with food vendors, community yard sales, and many other vendors offering all sorts of wares at tables and booths along the streets surrounding the four-corners light.

Kidscrabble will be held on the lawn in front of Key Bank from 11am to 3pm, where Girl Scouts Troop 10208 will be offering a wide range of activities as part of their individual Silver Award projects, according to Trustee Jen Norris, one of the event organizers.

Another fun feature will be an all-sizes clothing swap where you can bring gently used clothes and exchange them for something “new.”

Live music at the municipal lot next to Village Hall will be featured throughout the day, including event headliners Jimmy Weider & Project Percolator and Col. Bruce Hampton & Friends, plus opening band “IS.”

The day concludes with a parade at 4pm; participants should line up at Linden Ave. Middle School at 3:15pm. All are invited to participate. If you want to march through Red Hook with family and friends, or even just by yourself, you need to register for your spot by contacting smccann@redhook.org or call 758-4606.
