A public hearing on the planned expansion of the Thompson-Mazzarella Park in Rhinebeck will be held Sept. 17 at 7:30pm.
The Village of Rhinebeck and Town of Rhinebeck planning boards will jointly hold the hearing, at Village Hall at 7:30pm, focusing on a special permit and site plan approval for the design of the proposed new community recreation facility.
The park is located within several special zoning districts, so the plans require a special use permit process. The project is designated as a “Type 1” action under the SEQRA review process, with the town acting as lead agency.
At the last public hearing on the project, in December 2012, there was overwhelming support for it, but parents were requesting more sports fields other than the planned two baseball fields and one soccer field.
Anyone who is interested will be given an opportunity to speak at the public hearing and may also submit comments in writing to Joan Winne, Planning Board Clerk, not later than noon on Sept. 17. The applications and supporting information may be examined at Town Hall prior to the public hearing.
