Kaitlin McGovern of Red Hook High School has been selected by the National Merit Scholarship Program as a semi-finalist.
More than 1.5 million juniors in nearly 22,000 high schools entered the 2014 National Merit Program by taking the 2012 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The nationwide pool of semifinalists, which represents less than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest scoring entrants in each state.
From approximately 16,000 semifinalists, about 15,000 are expected to advance to the finalist level and it is from this group, that all Merit Scholarship winners will be chosen.
