Red Hook Community Arts Network is launching a new exhibition titled “Ornamentation,” and is seeking artist submissions.
The works will be displayed at the RHCAN gallery at 7516 N. Broadway, in Red Hook, for a show that will run from Nov. 29 to Jan. 5.
Original art, print reproductions, greeting cards, crafted items to wear, jewelry and holiday ornaments are some suggestions for what will be considered for the show. According to a news release on the event, interested artists are urged to “be creative with the concept of ornamentation and all that it can mean.”
Pieces prepared for wall hanging are preferred and each artist will be limited to about five feet of wall space, depending on the amount of work submitted. There will also be a greeting card rack for displaying cards in clear bags for sale
According to the release, RHCAN will exhibit something from each artist, but the show will be curated to meet the gallery’s space limitations, so not all work by each artist may be accepted. The show is otherwise open to all.
Submission fees are $15 per artist; all sales go directly to the artist with a 10 percent donation in lieu of commission requested by the gallery.
