Teen in ICU after being struck by car in Red Hook

An 18-year-old boy is in intensive care after being struck by a car and seriously injured midday Saturday on Route 9 in Red Hook village, according to a Red Hook police report.

The boy was walking, reportedly with a friend, when he was hit by a northbound car near Amherst Road, near Griff’s Deli and the Rhinebeck Bank, at 11:18am, the police said.

The victim, whose name was not released, is currently in the ICU at St. Francis Hospital with multiple injuries.

The police report said initial findings show the teen was attempting to cross South Broadway from the west shoulder when he was struck by a 2013 Hyundai traveling north. direction. The investigation is still underway.

The driver of the car was also not identified at this point. Further details await the ongoing investigation.
