Rhinebeck sports wrap up fall season

Field Hockey: It was a rough season for Rhinebeck varsity field hockey, in a transition year with new head coach Mary Fleischhauer. They finished their season with a loss in the Section 9, Class C semi-finals in Milton, N.Y..

Final Record: 3-9

Volleyball: Allie Ferretti’s varsity volleyball squad made a good run into the playoffs, beating Burke in the Section 9, Class C quarterfinals in three sets, but falling to top-seeded Spackenkill in three on Nov. 1 in the semifinals.

Final Record: 10-7

Boys Cross Country: Rhinebeck’s boys placed 4th as a team in the Section 9 Championship, finishing with a team total time of 1:30:25 and an individual runner average of 18:05.4. Rhinebeck’s Dante Pentepent placed 4th in the run (16:58.71), Tyler Dezago placed 8th (17:18.31), Otto Neiler finished 10th (17:40.74), Chris Cassano placed 30th (19:02.90), Vincent Santo finished 34th (19:24.50), Jon McCormack finished 58th (20:50.15), and Seb Gaddis placed 81st (24:14.18). Rhinebeck boys finished the season with three runners in the state’s top runners for Division C: Pentepent placed 53rd, Dezago 86th, and Neiler 131st.

Girls Cross Country: The girls team also placed 4th at the championship. Alexa Schwartz placed 15th (21:42.59), Carol Tyson placed 23rd (23:20.09), Julia Fesser placed 27th (24:14.50), Maggie Hanson finished 29th (24:36.34), Emily Prentice finished 30th (25:00.37), Clark Waters finished 33rd (25:37.75), and Shoshana Goldman finished 42nd (28:14.65).
