Suspect caught in Hyde Park armed robbery

An armed robbery at the Subway store on Albany Post Road in Hyde Park Nov. 20 resulted in the arrest of a 24-year-old homeless man who is also a suspect in two grand larceny cases in Hyde Park, according to the police.

Hyde Park Police, Dutchess County Sheriffs, and State Police responded to a 911 call around 8:45pm after a Subway employee reported that she observed a white male reach into the cash register and take money out while she was in the back of the store, according to a Hyde Park Police report. She then yelled out and chased him as he tried to exit the store, but, the police report said, he pulled out a knife, threatening to stab her. At 9:41pm, a suspect was located near the Hyde Park Stop & Shop and was taken into custody.

Police identified him as a homeless man. He was charged with three felonies: first-degree robbery and two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny in addition to two counts of petty larceny, a misdemeanor.

Police say is a suspect in a grand larceny that occurred Nov. 2 in which over $2,400 was stolen from a residence on Cardinal Road in Hyde Park and another grand larceny case Nov. 11 involving the use of a friend’s credit card to obtain $369.

was arraigned in Town of Hyde Park court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail without bail.
