Rhinebeck ZBA chairman steps down

David Baldauf, the long-time chairman of the Town of Rhinebeck Zoning Board of Appeals, has stepped down.

“My term was up, and I think it’s the right time to turn it over to a very capable board,” Baldauf said at the close of the ZBA’s Dec. 18 meeting.

Baldauf served on the board for 30 years and was involved in two comprehensive plans, one in 1989 and the most recent in 2009. He remembered that the Gardens at Rhinebeck project, first proposed in the 1980s, was one of the first projects he encountered after joining the board.

Mike West, who has served 20 years, will take over the chair and the town board will appoint someone to fill the vacant spot on the board.
