Wappingers Falls man arrested after crashing into Hyde Park fire hydrant

, 33, of Wappingers Falls, was arrested in Hyde Park Dec. 30 at 3:28am and charged with driving while intoxicated, a felony, since he was convicted of a previous DWI within the last 10 years. He was also charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer, a misdemeanor, and other traffic violations, according to a Hyde Park Police report. While on patrol, an officer observed a vehicle traveling at 71 mph in a 45 mph zone and attempted to pull the vehicle over, the report said. The driver traveled south on Albany Post Road toward the Town of Poughkeepsie, failed to negotiate a curve, and crashed into a fire hydrant at the Mobil gas station at 3480 North Road. was remanded to Dutchess County Jail on $10,000 cash or bail bond.
