Traffic came to a full-stop Monday morning at rush hour on Route 9G between Routes 308 and 9 in Rhinebeck after a pickup truck went off the road down an embankment. The driver, who was unhurt, told authorities he was headed northbound but was forced to swerve off the pavement when a southbound vehicle crossed into his lane, according to a Rhinebeck Fire Department report. The Fire Department, the Sheriff’s Office, the state police and Northern Dutchess Paramedics all responded to the scene. The truck recovery kept the road closed for more than an hour.
