It came down to Feb. 25 for both the boys and girls varsity basketball teams at FDR High, and neither managed to get past the Section 9 quarterfinals.
As the fifth seed in the Class AA tournament on Feb. 25, the Presidents fell on the road to Burke Catholic, 60-50. Center Chris Roach put down 16 points to lead FDR in scoring.
The FDR girls were also the fifth seed when they played Newburgh Free Academy on the road in the Class AA quarterfinals, but they didn’t keep the score quite as tight as the boys; they lost 61-26, in a game in which Lady President Allison Pritchard led the scoring with 16 points.
