The Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum is offering a free Family Activity Day on Sat., March 29.
Highlights include a 90-minute silkscreen poster workshop at 11am, at which attendees can print their own WPA poster, with Social Impact Studios founder and director Ennis Carter. Silkscreening supplies will be provided for participants to print their own poster to take home. No experience required, because silkscreen experts will be on site to teach basic techniques and screenprinting skills. All ages are welcome; children must be accompanied by an adult.
Then, following a lunch break, Carter will present a book talk and signing on her
acclaimed book, “Posters for the People: Art of the WPA,” at 2pm. The book is a collection of nearly 500 of the best posters designed by artists in the 1930s and 40s for the
government-sponsored Works Progress Administration, or WPA.
Both programs will take place at the Henry A. Wallace Center at the FDR site. Because space is limited, preregistration is required, by calling (845) 486-7745.
