“Exterior” design icon John Danzer of Munder-Skiles will headline the eighth annual Bellefield Design Lecture and Garden Party on Sun., June 1 at 2pm.
The illustrated lecture, “Sitting Pretty,” a history of the garden seat, will feature an exhibition of historical furniture designed exclusively for gardens, including the reproduction of original designs by Beatrix Farrand.
A reception and garden party will follow in the historic Farrand Garden at Bellefield and will feature an Heirloom plant sale of prized cultivars from the garden at Bellefield, a garden boutique by the Roosevelt-Vanderbilt Historical Association, a High Tea among fragrant peonies, and a tasting of a special creation by Mauro Sessarego of Artigiani del Gelato, “Farrand Garden Flower.”
The Bellefield Design Lecture Series was created by the Beatrix Farrand Garden Association (BFGA) in collaboration with the National Park Service and the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library. It is a fundraiser for the preservation and interpretation of the Beatrix Farrand Garden at Bellefield.
The event will be held from 2pm to 5pm at the Henry A. Wallace Visitor Center and Bellefield at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Historic Site in Hyde Park. Tickets are $40 ($35 for BFGA members).
