A sunny day for Apple Blossom

Apple Blossom Day bloomed hot and sunny in Red Hook May 10, as the street flea markets and food vendors did brisk business while the whole village celebrated spring.

The annual festival is put together by the Rotary Club of Red Hook, and this year featured lots of fun for the kids, like face painting, balloon making, baby animals, cotton candy and other delicious treats. Local churches and other organizations also put on programs, crafts and sales. Live bands performed in the village hall parking lot, and later that evening, a 50s Sock Hop was held at Hardscrabble Plaza.

Rotary Club event organizer David Wright said that all together there were more than 100 vendors throughout the village and he was happy with the attendance. “It’s the first event after the winter and people were itching to get out,” he said.
