Hyde Park’s series of free lawn concerts in the parks swings into action tomorrow night with the Hyde Park schools band performing show tunes and popular music selections in a concert at Mills Mansion (Staatsburgh State Historic Site) at 7pm.
The Music In The Parks series will be held on Wednesday evenings at 7pm through June and July, and at 6:30 pm in August.
The June schedule features The Greyhounds with music from the 50s on June 11 at Mills; The Big Band Sound with Big Band music on June 18 at Mills; and The Chain Gang with classic rock and popular music on June 25 at Mills.
In July, the concerts resume July 9 with In the Pocket offering popular music at Mills; Bill’s Toupee Band playing popular music July 16 at Vanderbilt Mansion; Stolen Heart playing country music July 23 at Mills; and The James Osborn Band with popular music July 30 at Vanderbilt.
For August, the Bearcats Jazz Band will play jazz/swing Aug 6 at Mills, and for the series finale, the U.S. Military Academy Band will play show tunes and popular music Aug 13 at Vanderbilt. (Carpooling is recommended for this event because of limited parking.)
The Music In The Parks sponsors include Rhinebeck Bank, the Hyde Park Lions Club, the Hyde Park Recreation Department, the Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce, and the Hyde Park Rotary.
