Sobriety checkpoint nets wanted man

, 28, of New Paltz, was arrested June 14 during a sobriety checkpoint on Route 199 at the entrance to the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge, according to a State Police report. Police interviewed at the road check and reportedly detected the odor of alcohol emanating from his vehicle. He passed field sobriety tests but was placed in custody when investigation reportedly revealed that he is wanted by the Modoc County Sheriff’s Office in California for felony cultivation of marijuana and trespassing. He was remanded to Dutchess County Jail without bail, where he awaits extradition to California.
