Heroin probe nets key suspect

, 47, of West Coxsackie, was arrested in Saugerties June 18 and charged with four counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance, five counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance, all felony charges, according to an Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team (URGENT) report. Following an extensive heroin trafficking investigation, members of URGENT made contact with the seller, who reportedly sold significant amounts of heroin to undercover agents. was taken into custody in the Saugerties Price Chopper parking lot as he was allegedly selling 100 bags (“decks”) of heroin. An additional 250 bags of heroin were allegedly located inside the rental vehicle he was operating. was arraigned and remanded to Ulster County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail and $100,000 property bond. The investigation continues and further arrests are pending. The Village of Rhinebeck Police Department assisted in the investigation.
