Red Hook and Rhinebeck Little League tournaments in full swing

The tournament season for Red Hook and Rhinebeck Little Leagues is on.

Tournament teams are comprised of All-Star teams from different age groups, and they play against other area All-Star teams in a double elimination tournament, vying to compete for a spot in the national competition. Two losses and you’re done.

The 9/10 Red Hook boys, coached by Bill Cole, opened the tournament by beating City of Poughkeepsie 19-1, on June 21, and followed it with a 12-2 win over Phillipstown on June 23. They then fell to Wappingers, 28-0, on June 27. Rhinebeck’s 9/10 boys fell 11-0 to Wappingers on June 23, and were eliminated by Pawling, 7-3, on June 25. No roster was provided by press time.

The 9/10 Rhinebeck roster consisted of Aiden Aierstok, Lucas Dentico, Richard Dentico, Michael Eighmy, Benjamin Fajardo, Carter Hines, Cole Knoop, Ryan Martin, Dante McClinchey, Colin Reichelt, Owen Rinaldi, and Jack Viator; the team was managed by Ed Fajardo and coached by Rich Dentico and Keith Reichelt.

Neither Rhinebeck nor Red Hook fielded a 10/11 team or an Intermediate team in the tournament.

Rhinebeck’s 11/12 squad fell 4-0 to Pawling on June 21 in the opening leg of the tournament, but won their first game in the single loss bracket, beating Fishkill, 11-3, on June 26. They fell to Hyde Park in a 2-1 loss on June 27, and were eliminated. The team consisted of Nathaniel Boyle, Evan DiMarco, Strachan Doran, Matthew Hansen, Brendan Hines, Robert Johnsen, McCready Kearney, Jonathan Lange, Max Pietras, Benjamin Rinaldi, Mason Savage, and Nakoa Zuger. The team is coached by Tony Rinaldi.

Red Hook and Rhinebeck paired up to field a Junior (13/14) team, coached by Joe Berry. They fell 7-2 to Fishkill in their opening game on June 21, but recouped with a 14-4 win over Dover on June 28 in the single-loss bracket; they were to face Lagrange on July 1. The team includes Sean Barry, Nolan Bourbeau, Hunter Cole, Jake Kihlmire, Mike Menz, Lance Neese, Matt Revette, Chris Yearwood, all of Red Hook; Firas Creema and Matt Denatale, both of Rhinebeck; and Ethan Generelli, Brandon Zimmer, and Christian Hafford of Taconic. The team is coached by Wayne Kihlmire and Mike Denatale.

The towns teamed up again to field a Senior (15/16) team coached by Russ Frehling, but they were eliminated in two games. They fell 9-4 to Wappingers on June 24, and were eliminated by Hyde Park, 4-3, on June 26 in the single-loss bracket. The roster included Austin Berry, Austin Cole, Wade Harris, Nick Hunziker, Kevin Jordan, Greg Karpinski, Griffin Kopec, Joe Kihlmire, Jim Mulvey, Chris Turgeon, and Hunter Valentine, all of Red Hook, and Chris Cassens and Aidan Hack, both of Rhinebeck.

Red Hook/Rhinebeck 9/10 softball fell 16-0 to Poughkeepsie in the opening game of their tournament; they faced Taconic in the single-loss bracket on June 28 and fell 13-3. The team was coached by Stacie Totman.

Neither Red Hook nor Rhinebeck fielded a Major or Junior division softball team.
