Locals test drive texting-while-driving simulator in Rhinebeck

NO LOL HERE: Dutchess County Legislator for Milan Gregg Pulver takes a spin in the “It Can Wait” texting-while-driving simulator, which was featured at the Rhinebeck Grand National Motorcycle Meet June 14 at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds, which is sponsored by AT&T. More than 85 people tried out the simulator, and 180 people took a pledge to never text and drive again. The simulator is a video game setup with a chair, steering wheel, pedals, monitor and smartphone so a driver can experience a 3D simulation navigating a “city” course while responding to phone texts. The Rhinebeck Police Department, including Sergeant Peter Dunn, was also on hand to participate in this educational initiative.
