Greystone Programs will hold its “Silver Anniversary Celebration” to mark 25 years of its International Wine Showcase & Auction next month, an event that raises funds for Expressive Arts and Therapy Programs for children, adults and families with autism and other developmental disabilities.
Connoisseurs, collectors, and casual wine drinkers are invited to sip and stock up for a cause on Sunday, Sept.14, from 3-8pm, indoors and “al fresco,” at The Grandview in Poughkeepsie. The proceeds from the event fund such things as wheelchair yoga, Zumba, piano and chorus lessons, arts & crafts, and the purchase of iPads and other assistive communication technologies for nonverbal individuals.
This year, the honorees will be Maggie and Bob Gephard, community benefactors who have chaired the benefit since its inception. Maggie is retired Vice President and General Manager of Liquorama Wine Cellars in Hyde Park, and creator of the “Kiss My Glass” wine blog and Facebook group. Bob serves on the boards of directors of Greystone Programs, Inc. and Greystone Foundation, Inc.
Wines from around the world will be paired with fabulous food — including a not-to-be missed seafood extravaganza, delectable desserts, and cordials — and live music provided outdoors by Big Joe Fitz & the LoFi’s and indoors by the Lindsey Webster Duo. Following silent and live auctions, the evening will culminate with a riverfront fireworks tribute to Greystone Founder and former Executive Director Marc W. Kelley, who died in March.
Tickets are $150. Event sponsorships are still being accepted. All sponsor levels include complimentary tickets. For reservations or sponsorship information, call Michelle Hathaway at 845-452-5772, ext. 119.
