Classic car driver dies in crash on Bulls Head Road

A Town of Washington man driving a classic car was killed in a crash on Bulls Head Road Sunday afternoon, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.

Preliminary investigation showed that Peter J. Wing, 67, was operating a 1936 Morgan Supersport 3-wheeler when he lost control near Shelley Hill Road in the town of Stanford at 3:15pm, the report said. The vehicle then rolled over and Wing, the sole occupant, was ejected. He was transported by ambulance to Northern Dutchess Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing by the Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit, but the report noted that rear tire failure appeared to be a contributing factor.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, Town of Stanford Fire Department, and Town of Milan Fire Department.
