Twelve new positive tests for coronavirus were reported on Friday, Sept. 4 in Dutchess County, according to the NYS Department of Health.

On Thursday, the most recent data posted by Dutchess County, the active case count was 269, an increase of 9 from the previous day and COVID-19 hospitalizations were at 5, unchanged.

There was one new death attributed to the disease reported by the county. UPDATE: The county removed the death from their dashboard a day later. According to the county, it was a data-entry mistake in the spreadsheet used to update the dashboard. The headline of this article was updated accordingly.

Over the previous seven days, an average of 1,568 live virus tests were given to county residents each day. Compared to three weeks earlier, active cases were up 5%, hospitalizations were up 25% and there had been 1 new death caused by or related to COVID-19.
