The Red Hook Community Arts Network (CAN) will be opening their first “Art POP” gallery at 7490 South Broadway in the Village of Red Hook on Friday, July 15th and holding a reception on July 16th from 6-8 pm. The gallery will be its first project since the inception of the group earlier this year. Due to the support of the Red Hook Chamber of Commerce in welcoming CAN to the community, the currently vacant storefront has been temporarily donated for use as a “pop-up” gallery by landlord Baright Realty in a joint effort to foster interest in future, much-needed economic development in the area.
CAN has put out a Call to Artists to submit art, as well as ideas for music performances, readings, and other creative uses of the space. CAN members have transformed the interior into a gallery of juried art that will be for sale to the public until the space is rented to a new business, at which time the plan is for the gallery to be moved and “pop up” in another available vacant storefront.
The artists involved are committed to capturing the enthusiasm rapidly growing in the Red Hook area to become a welcoming, vibrant, attractive and economically thriving spot to visit in the Hudson Valley.
Gallery hours will be Thursdays through Saturdays, noon to 9 pm and Sundays, noon to 5 pm.
